That's right! Only 62 days (1,512 hours/90,720 minutes/5,443,200 seconds) remaining before we step foot off American soil! Are you as ready as I am?? I am so unbelievably excited for what God is going to do...both in the lives of many South Africans, and in each one of you. This will be a life-changing summer for us.

I want to take just a minute to introduce myself and my co-leader. My name is Rebecca (Becca) Herndon. I am from Texas...but can't believe I just admitted that! I was born and raised in Arkansas, and think Texas has some cool people, but is still waaaay too flat! I prefer being outdoors, in the mountains, or on some back trail. I love sushi, handwritten letters, driftwood, creativity, spontenaity, listening to God, community, and people. You will hear more about my heart in the days to come.

And I know he will be telling you more about himself shortly, but I also want to introduce my co-leader, Harold Vance. I had the priviledge of meeting Harold this past week, and quickly realized he is one of the absolute coolest people EVER! He has such a pure heart for God and a genuine love for mankind. I can't wait for you to meet him!

I want to encourage you now to begin preparing your heart for this trip. Let God work through any issues in your life. This past week at our training camp God did some serious work in me, stripping me of my preconceived ideas and expectations for this summer. I ask that you spend some time letting God do the same for you. May our prayer be this: "Lord, we desire nothing more than for Your will to be done!" So long as He is glorified, our mission will be a success. Agree?

You will be hearing a lot more from Harold and myself in the coming weeks. We are here to inform you, to encourage you, to disciple you, to pray for you, to get to know you, and most of all, to love you to the very best of our ability.

Here's some homework to do over the next few days... 

1. Join the conference call on 4/22/08 if at all possible. I'm pretty sure ts 7pm GEORGIA time, so keep that in mind.

2. Start thinking about some creative ideas to use in kid's outreach. Are there any songs/motions, stories, skits, crafts, etc that come to mind? You will hear more about this, but I want to go ahead and give you the heads up.

3. Look me up on facebook (Search for Becca Herndon), and/or Myspace (Search for Rebecca Herndon, I'm the one with the Jim Elliot quote). Harold is on facebook, just search for Harold Vance, or look on my friends list.
