We’re here in South Africa, and it is AMAZING! I’m so thankful for everyone’s prayers over the past couple of weeks!
Training camp was a blast. I definitely remember thinking that had we just come for that it would’ve been so worth it (and can handle/tie up a chicken like nobody’s business now, courtesy of interesting AIM staff… that will have to be explained later due to time restrictions:)
Anyways, JBay is beyond gorgeous. we’re just a short walk from the beach and the townships we’re working in. We started working at our ministry sites a couple of days ago. The first couple of days we were here i was in shock at how beautiful it was here, but the townships have so much more beauty than I could’ve ever imagined.
The difference between rich and poor here is shocking. If an entire country or at least city was all poverty stricken it would be one thing, but it’s so weird to see how different neighbors can live. The people in the township though are soo beautiful! Everyone wants to talk to you and all the kids want to jump on you! Their is life in there.
Our team is big so we got split up into 5 different ministry groups. My group is working with the Joshua Project, which works mainly with street kids between 6-14 years old. These are the rougher kids who either live on the streets or have abusive or neglectful family lives. I’m so thankful the Lord put me with these kids! They’re rowdy and crazy, but definitely need so much love. God is already breaking me for these kids, His children, and I feel that they are going to have way more of an impact on my life than the other way around. The 6 weeks is going to fly…
I love you all and want to write so much more but am out of time! Thank you so much for keeping my team and those we are working with in your prayers.
