Love is an interesting thing; real love, that is; true love. It’s something that most (if not all) people will always fail to understand in its beautiful completeness.
Love is like anything else: we like to generalize it and water it down into terms we can understand, thus making it out to be something less than it really is. We try to direct love at individuals, at one person (or thing) at a time. But this is not how love works. This is not it at all. This is something else entirely, something less than love.
Love is far greater than any of us, and love is far greater than all of us. True love is for everyone. Anything less than that is something less than love. If we don’t love everyone, then we don’t love anyone. But if we love everyone (this includes ourselves) as an image of our Abba, how great that love is!
Love is not defined by who it is shown to, but from whom it springs forth, and love can only come from One. If we truly possess love in our hearts, it has not come from us, but only through us, for we love because He first loved us.
Love is greater than we’ll ever understand, but who ever said you needed to understand it to enact it?
Go forth and love. Walk in love. Do everything in love. For God so loved the world…
