    Matthew 21:22

“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.”

This scripture describes the wonderful Power of my Father! As I look back on June of 2007, this is when this scripture really captivated me. As I was in Matamoros Mexico on a mission trip with several others from my church, I knew that it was because of prayer that we made it there. While we were there it was our feverent prayers for the people that let us see God’s hand at work. I will never forget when our group went to do home ministry, God performed a miraculous healing by us believing and praying. We were walking around the colonia, didn’t know where to start so we just prayed and let God lead us. We went down a road that wasn’t to great, we got to the end and felt the Lord leading us toward the right. We followed God, around the corner we found a couple of men that were enjoying the sunny day, we stopped and started talking to them. While we got to know them we asked if they knew about God? Martin, an 80 year old man didn’t know about Jesus, we lead him in prayer and He was born again that day! We asked him if there was anything that we could help him pray for, and he told us to pray for his brother Grimaldo. Grimaldo was sitting on the wall while we were talking to Martin, he told us that his brother had a birth defect and ever since he was born he couldn’t talk. Martin said that his brother wants to talk but he can’t, we all laid hands on Grimaldo, believing as we prayed to God for his healing. After we prayed we asked Martin what his brother’s name was, well instead of Martin telling us Grimaldo SPOKE, his name to us! We all rejoiced with tears streaming down our faces, how great our God is for letting us witness his healing power through prayer.

Prayer is a big belief of mine and is sculpting my life daily. I am a product of prayer, even before I was born God interceded for me and had others praying for me. As I see where God has brought me from I know that it is by praying, believing, and simply obeying God with the direction that He leads me to go in. I hold strong to the promise in this verse that tells us to believe when we pray and we shall receive what we pray for.
