So…interesting story..hope you guys aren’t eating anything. I went into my bathroom about two hours ago and no sooner did I close the door I heard this strange scratching sound just above me. I looked up and, quite to my surprise, discovered I was eye to eye with the LARGEST roach I have ever seen! I kid you not. And it was frantically trying to hide. I couldn’t do anything but scream and run. Of course when i came back with my roommates, the beast was long gone. We couldn’t find it anywhere.

..Or so I thought.

As I was sitting in bed starting to write this post, I hear that dreaded scratching noise. I flip on my lamp and grab the roach spray (which my roomie thoughtfully placed just outside the bathroom door, just in case). And there he was, climbing next to a box close to my bed. Yeah, that’s right…MY BED! I drench that monster with so much spray I think I might pass out from the poison.

My roommate woke up from the noise, but was sweet enough to congratulate me on a mission well accomplished. We both stared at that creepy thing just laying in the toilet. And then it struck me…somewhere in the midst of such craziness, God was preparing me for the unexpected. Can any of you relate? Not necessarily with roaches, but with your own “tests of faith”? (Not that the roach made me question God, it just taught me to always be prepared to face the unknown.) Perhaps you are busy, feeling overwhelmed, maybe going through a dry time where you find yourself wondering why God won’t answer.

Or perhaps it’s a relationship that is currently bogging you down, or a physical weakness in you or someone close to you. Maybe its that dang assignment that you can’t wait to be done with. (Or possibly just school in general!) Whatever it is, I have a message for you: God is preparing you. Your character is being built, your faith is being strengthened, and your dependence is being thrown into question. But its not a bad thing. God is drawing you closer to Himself. Embrace it, live it up, even enjoy it! Let it be an encouragement to know that God is so adamant about loving you that He is intentional about every move He makes with you. Nothing He does or allows is “just because.” No way. It is out of pure, raw, stubborn love that never quits, never fails, and never stops flowing.

I want to leave you with this challenge: the first chance you get (lunch break, between classes, sometime before your head hits the pillow tonight) go read 2 Chronicles 20:1-30. Pay special attention to vs 3, the last sentence in 12, 15, 17, 21, 26 (for the meaning of Beracah) and lastly, the super cool vs 30.

Let God speak to you. And then let us know what He says. 🙂

I love you. I’m praying for you. I cannot wait to meet you.
