Sorry for taking so long to post this blog, communication has not been what i expected. Well to sum this up as best as posssible, I’ll start off with training camp. Training camp was from June 2nd- June 8th. It was a wonderful experience to say the least. I experienced a lot of spiritual growth within a short period of time, which was great. Their focus was to make sure we were going to be most effective on the mission field. This consisted of team building exercises, various talks on purpose, prayer, evangelism, cross cultural transition, and surrendering anything that was going to inhibit the Holy Spirit from taking charge during the trip. After training camp ended we spent 2 days traveling. We had layovers in D.C., new york, dekar, joburg, port elizabeth, then drove an hour to jbay. The first couple of days on the missions field we teamed up with another christian organization called UCSA, united christian student association. Their staff consists of people from various places around africa, specifically Zimbabwe and Zambia. They gave us a better understanding of the culture, history and people of jbay. They are also the ones we run to when needing help with anything from safety to grocery shopping. For those that dont know, we have a team of 22 people living in one house, 2 of which are our leaders. Our team is split into 5 ministry groups, which include a free clinic, after school programs, daycare, joshuas project, and my group basically does prayer walks. There is a total of 4 of us and we work with a lady named Auntie Mathilda. Jbay is not that large, but it says a lot that she knows the majority of the people in the townships personally. By the way, the townships are considered to be the poorest areas in South Africa. Many of which are built from card board, and other random materials. Well Auntie Mathilda is a selfless woman with a huge heart for those struggling in Jbay. She is like a community activist. She works primarily with those with HIV and AIDS and others in various circumstances in which they are unable to leave home. So we pretty much go visit, pray with them, and try to accomodate them the best way we can. I have so many stories of wounded individuals (emotionally and physically), but there are always  stories of healing which are the hope and motivation behind everything i do here. I just ask that u continue to keep our team in prayer, as well as those in Jbay for healing and salvation.
