Okay, so there have been a lot of great verses of encouragement popping up in the prayer request chain, and it’s so awesome! It got me to wondering: If you had to narrow it down to one verse that has most affected you in your life thus far, what would it be (it doesn’t have to be just a single verse, if it’s something that spans a few, but try to think of the one place in scripture that has really called out to your heart and shaped who you are more than any other.). Personally, I’d have to say mine is First Corinthians 16: “13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. 14 Do everything in love.”
Blog

Mine would have to be the Whole book of 1 John. Its a lot of verses, but my passion is to go and love on people around the world and the book of 1 John tells us ALL about love! It is beautiful… then one more is Isaiah 42 where it says that God will hold our hands… that gets me every time I read it!
Codi
My life verse is Galatians 2:20-21 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me, I do not frustrate the grace of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vein.”
This scripture has been my stronghold through a lot! God is so good!
I have so many that have made a huge impact, and for me lately it has been:
You were running well. Who prevented you from obeying the truth? This persuasion did not come from Him who called you.
-Galatians 5:7-8
Because I keep getting ridiculously distracted every time I have an awesome God encounter, this really is one of those verses that helps me get back on my feet. And with the CRAZY amount of spiritual warfare going on, it really helps
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
“To keep me from being too elated by the surpassing greatness of the revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from being too elated. Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me. BUT HE SAID TO ME, “MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
Nothing I do on my own will suffice. His GRACE is the only thing that is enough for every situation.
I’m going to cheat and mention my top three.
1) A summation of the purpose of life in Romans 1:5 “Through [Jesus Christ our Lord] and for his name’s sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith.
2) An exhortation to earnestness in Hebrews 11:6 “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
3) A promise in Malachi 4:2 “But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.”
I have 3 big ones too… I can’t pick one. God has been teaching me so much over the past year and these have all spoken volumes to me.
“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise as you may think. No, he is being patient for your sake.”
-2 Peter 3:12
God showed me this verse at a time when I was really praying for patience because of a promise that He had made to me that I couldn’t see happening. See… I’m a really impatient person and I pray for patience all the time. When I found this verse, it just told me that God is being patient FOR me. Patience is not foreign to God. He wants to bless me, but I have to learn to sit back and trust him.
“Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely just as God now knows me completely.”
-1 Corinthians 13:12
This year I have had a complete change of mind about my career goals and I don’t really know what exactly I want to do anymore except for LOVE JESUS! I wish that was a major. I went through a couple of months where all I did was worry, and that is when God gave me this verse and told me that it’s okay not to know everything.
“Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for me?… “Here I am. Send me.”
-Isaiah 6:8
Needless to say… I am ready to just GO!
okay this is kind of hard!
My first thought was Galatians 2:20-21 the same as Courtney! Just recently Acts 17:24-28 has really spoken to me…
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being.”
Another verse that I guess you could has been somewhat of my life verse is Pslam 37:4
“Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Ah, Lauren, Loving Jesus is a major! It’s just not found traditionally in most schools unfortunately (And by traditionally, I mean in the sense that you can’t get that big, expensive receipt at the end of the year proving that you studied it, but what a much greater reward we have awaiting us for studying it everyday regardless).
It’s awesome to see the different verses that stick out to us as individuals, and how they all really just build us up as individual members of His Body. This summer is going to be amazing. Remember to keep Him and His Word at the focal point of our lives, and all else will be blest.
And it’s really cool to see how hard it is to narrow it down to one or three. Ultimately, it’s the Word of God, not the compilation of the words of God anyways, so every verse is really manifested in every other verse, and vice-a-versa (wow, that was a lot of “vers”es).
phillipians 1:20-21
I feel like I kinda go through phases where some verses are more powerful to my situation than others but atleast this year one of my favorites has been
Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord your God is with you, he is might to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
Well I would have to say that one of my favorite verses would have to be Isaiah 30:41. “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” This verse has always given me comfort and it just encourages me to keep going.
So one of my biggest weakness is that i am always worrying about whats going to happen the next day. I worry that im guna mess things up and God will not be able to finish his plan with me. i like this verse cause it gives me peace.
“This vision is for a future time. It describes the end and will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.” Habakkuk 2:3
Ephesians 2:8 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith- and this not from yourselves, it is a gift from God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”
This verse has meant a lot to me since I came to understand what a relationship with Jesus is all about. For years I had been beaten down by the hardships in my life. Then one day I understood that it wasn’t something that I had to do or that I had been doing wrong. It was something that had already been given to me and all I had to do was accept it. Once I grasped that, my life changed 100% for the better. I had a best freind whe would never leave my side; a partner for life who would always love me and help me out.
I would choose Isaiah 61:1-4 The spirt of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor he has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of the prison to those who are bound… (luke 4:18-19 jesus repeats it) and James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this:to visit orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep onself unstained from the world.
The verse that keeps popping up throughout my life has been John 14:6, “Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through Me.”
my favorite verse has to be Galtians 2:20. Also John 8:36. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. It works so well in my life because i use to struggle so so bad with many different habitual sins, and i would always ask for prayer for them, prayer is great don’t get me wrong, but i was not feeling to free until the point where i realized i was actually already free i just did not accept it as so.
